One way to bring well-being to body and mind and regenerate ourselves from the stress that sad and melancholic seasons like autumn or the difficulties of everyday life bring us is to dedicate a few hours a week to the invigorating practice of massage, especially if combined with aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is the discipline of phytotherapy which uses essential oils in order to restore well-being and balance to our entire body on the physical plane, mental and emotional.

The use of plants and their derivatives has roots in the ancient past.

Already the Egyptians, knowing their antibacterial properties, used them for the mummification of the Pharaohs.

n then also the Greeks and the Romans made extensive use of it to perfume body and clothes, purify the air or create medicamentous ointments.

During the Middle Ages, in the 10th century, the Arab alchemist Avicenna perfected its production by inventing distillation.

The first oil extracted was the essential oil of rose, with which the famous Rose water was created.

The distillation of oils soon became common in Europe, and already in the fourteenth century about seventy essences had been distilled.

The father of modern aromatherapy can be recognized in the chemical engineer René-Maurice Gattefossé (1881- 1950). Victim of an explosion in 1910 and seriously burned, he realized the potential of lavender essential oil and applied it to the wounds. The results confirmed his intuitions as the lavender essence revealed excellent antiseptic properties.

Aromatherapy therefore uses the aromatic essences, also called essential oils, with the aim of achieving well-being and balance of mind, body and emotions.

The perfume has definitely a fundamental component in aromatherapy, involving the smell and all related cognitive areas (just think of the memories that are suggested by the smell of a certain scent or smell), but despite the term suggests it, aromatherapy does not only indicate the "olfactory" use of essential oils, but also their cutaneous and oral application.

But what exactly are essential oils?

ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils or ethereal oils are natural products obtained by extraction, starting from plant material rich in “essences”.

Once extracted, they appear as oily, liquid, volatile and scented substances like the plant from which they come.

Although they are called “oils”, their molecular structure and consistency are very different from normal vegetable oils.

In fact, they are substances with a very complex composition that represent the noblest part of the plant, present in the form of tiny droplets in the petals of flowers, in the peel of fruits, in the resin and bark of trees and in the roots of herbs and aromatic plants.

They are volatile elements, soluble in alcohol and oil, but not in water.

The molecules of essential oils have a high affinity with the tissues of the human body and can easily penetrate the skin, passing through the hair follicles and entering the circulation through the blood or via the lymph and interstitial fluid.

Although each essential oil has its own specific activity (balsamic, anti-inflammatory, rubefacent, healing, relaxing, depurative...), all essential oils, even if in different degrees, have antiseptic and antibiotic properties, They can support our immune system and protect our body.

The ESSENTIAL OILS IKS are the result of precise molecular synergies from which true concentrates of functional active ingredients arise.

Their remarkable effectiveness is determined not only by particularly balanced formulations, but also by high-quality raw materials, the result of strict selections carried out following precise criteria (species, genus, type of soil, exposure to the sun, life cycle of the plant, atmospheric agents, part of the plant used and so on) which guarantee their purity and real quality.

The authentic touch for body and mind is the scalp massage with Sensitive Essence that H.K. hairdressers perform with great professionalism, to give relief to tense skin, strongly sensitized by nerve endings, stressed by anxiety and stress.

The contracted cranial muscles are in fact relaxed with precise techniques (which must be carried out only by professional and properly trained subjects), giving relief to the scalp and combating headaches caused by fatigue and stress.

Below we offer some images that illustrate the points, corresponding to neuralgic areas of the head, whose pressure, carried out with light massages, determines the release of stress and nervous tension.

The presence in Sensitive Essence of Essential Oil of Lemon with an astringent and toning action, of theEssential Oils of Mandarin and Sweet Orange, known for the calming, relaxing and antispasmodic properties of the Essential Oil of Neroli (Bitter Orange Blossom), regenerating and stimulating the microcirculation, allows, in synergy with massage, to relieve tension caused by accumulations of stress and physical and emotional fatigue.

The sweet and fruity aroma of this mix of citrus essential oils acts on the psychic sphere, helping to bring serenity, good mood and to chase away negative thoughts.

A very practical use of Sensitive Essence is in the preparatory phase for applying hair dye.

The massage with Sensitive Essence helps to loosen the tension of the scalp and promotes the complete exit of the hair from its follicle, allowing the coloring to perfectly cover the shaft from root to tip. This will avoid the unsightly shadow that is created when the hair, held back by a taut scalp, is not colored along its entire length.
